The Abbotsford School District has a longstanding tradition of community partnerships, with numerous individuals and organizations dedicating countless hours to support student success. To formally acknowledge these contributions, the Board established the Community Matters Award, presented annually to those who have significantly exceeded their community service mandate and positively impacted Abbotsford School District students.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Pete Nuij as Assistant Superintendent, effective June 16, 2025.

With more than two decades of experience in public education, Pete brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to his new role. He has served as a teacher, school-based administrator, District Principal, Director of Instruction, and most recently, Associate Superintendent of Education Services with the Vancouver School Board.

The Abbotsford School District proudly honoured its 2025 retirees with a heartfelt celebration on June 5, 2025, at the Clarion Hotel. This special evening brought together colleagues, family, and friends to recognize the lasting impact of those retiring from roles across education leadership, operations, administration, teaching, and support services.

At Jackson Elementary, students are leading a powerful initiative called Sxélts and Qám, which means Feathers and Ripples. Rooted in Indigenous values, the program empowers students to foster connection and kindness through peer support during recess and lunch.

After 42 years in the Abbotsford School District, Carla Campbell has seen education from nearly every angle. From teaching early primary to mentoring future leaders, her story is one of lifelong learning, community roots, and unwavering care for students.

Eugene Reimer Middle School is proud to share the incredible impact of its recent Vaisakhi fundraising initiatives. Through the enthusiastic involvement of students, families, and staff, the school raised funds that have made meaningful contributions to several important causes.

From April 28 to 30, the Abbotsford School District hosted its beloved Nights of Music series at the Abbotsford Arts Centre—an annual celebration that brings together student performers from across elementary, middle, and secondary schools. The lively three-night event was a powerful display of musical collaboration, creativity, and community spirit.
